Holiday Ornaments with Xyron

The Xyron Design Team will be sharing holiday ornaments so be sure to check out the Xyron Facebook page for lots of great ideas throughout the week.

I have a few ideas to share today and my first one starts with these ornaments made from treat boxes.

I know several people who allow their children to open one gift on Christmas Eve. We don't have that tradition in our home, but I thought it would be fun to turn this tree box into an ornament that would hang on the tree until Christmas Eve when the kids would be allowed to open the box and find a small gift or fun treat. I cut the box with my Silhouette Cameo and then adhered it together using the Xyron Mega Runner. I added ribbon for a hanger and then personalized each box using Epiphany Crafts metal charms and a photo.

I have seen so many fun advent calendars this year, but didn't have the time to create my own. After creating the treat box above I thought it would be fun to expand that idea into an advent calendar. I am one of those people who put up a whole forest of trees in my house for the holidays, lol, so I thought it would be fun to decorate one of them with a variety of boxes that could be hung like ornaments and opened each day. I haven't cut and assembled all my boxes yet, but I have cut a couple of the tree boxes and a few other like this snowflake box I made for the first day. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the box and then adhered it together using my Xyon Mega Runner. I punched a small hole in the top of the box and added a ribbon loop for a hanger. I won't be able to use the idea this year, but I can't wait to finish all the boxes and put together a Tree Advent Calendar next year.

I found this sled at a local store and decided to dress it up with a rosette and a stamped image. I put together the rosette and adhered the scalloped circle and stamped image to the rosette using the Xyron 5" Creative Station. I adhered the whole piece to the sled with the DIY foam adhesive (also made using the 5" Creative Station).

The last ornament I made is called a pop up paper ornament and I saw the idea for this in a video on YouTube and I knew I wanted to try making one for myself. You can view the video here so you can make your own pop up ornament. I love that you can fold it flat or pop it up like an ornament and I thought this would make a fun tag to add to gift with an extra fun surprise for the recipient.
