Epiphany Crafts Square Tool Feature

The Epiphany Crafts Design Team has been sharing lots of great projects using the round and square tools this week. Be sure to stop by the Epiphany Crafts blog and check them out. My youngest daughter's birthday is just around the corner and she loves to play with Rubik's Cubes. I thought it would be fun to create a notecard and a set of gift boxes that look like a Rubik's Cube to fill with jewelry or other small gifts. These would also make fun favor boxes for a child's birthday party or a classroom party.

The three boxes that make up the cube can spin around like a Rubik's Cube.

Each of the three boxes open and can be separated and filled with small gifts or treats.

To make the cube start by cutting three pieces of cardstock to 6 5/8 x 10 1/4 inches. Score along the 6 5/8 side of the cardstock at 1/2, 3, 3 7/8, and 6 3/8 inches.

Turn the cardstock to the 10 1/4 inch side and start by scoring at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10 inches.

You will need to choose one of the square sections for the lid and base of the box and add score lines for the tabs as shown below. All three tabs for the bottom of the box are 1/4 inch. The side tabs for the lid are 3/8 inch and the front tab is a 1/2 inch. Be sure to only score to the second line for each square.

Cut away the extra cardstock as shown below and taper the tabs.

Fold along the score lines and assemble the box.

Choose six coordinating patterned papers and use the Epiphany Crafts Square Tool to punch nine squares from each of the patterned papers.

Line up the three boxes and adhere the patterned paper squares as show below.

To allow the boxes to spin like a Rubik's cube, I used Basic Grey magnetic discs. You will need four of the discs for this project. Adhere two of the discs on the inside of the lids of the bottom two boxes. Adhere the other two discs to the bottom of the top two boxes. The top box will have one magnetic disc on the bottom of the box. The middle box with have two discs- one on the inside of the lid and one on the bottom. The bottom box will have one disc on the inside of the lid.

To make the notecard, cut a piece of cardstock to 2.5 x 5 inches, score at 2.5 inches, and fold. Punch nine squares of patterned paper using the Epiphany Crafts Square Tool and adhere to the card front as shown.

Stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card with Versamark Ink and emboss with white embossing powder.

Furthermore, people need some box that can hold their stuff evenly. What can be a better option than cube boxes? Similarly, to store items in warehouses or to save archives in office, for all these activities, cube packaging boxes are the best option.
