Welcome back to another project for the Xyron and Epiphany Crafts blog hop. Both design teams have been sharing some great projects this week. Be sure to stop by the Xyron and Epiphany Crafts blogs to see what the design team members have created.
For this project I put together a fun set of notebooks. My kids love to doodle and write stories so these fun notebooks will help keep them busy now that school is out. Their smaller size makes it easy to store in the holder and take up little space on a desk and theycute enough that my girls want to display them in their rooms.
Here is a look at all five of the notebooks.
Let me show you how I made these notebooks. Choose five coordinating patterned papers and trim to 5.5 x 12 inches. These will be the covers of your notebooks.
Score the patterned paper at 4.25 and 8.5 inches along the 12 inch side of the paper.
I wanted my notebook flaps to have decorative edges so I used the Tim Holtz Bracket and File Folder Tab edge dies for four of the notebooks. For the fifth book I simply rounded the corners. You could also use punches to give the flaps a fun look.
For the inside pages I used regular printer paper. You can add as many pages to your notebooks as you would like. I used 5 pieces of paper for each of my notebooks, cut them in half, and trimmed them to 5.25 x 8 inches.
Score all of the pages at 4 inches along the 8 inch side.
Staple the pages together and fold along the score lines.
Use a ruler and craft knife to trim the paper for an even edge.
Open the pages and lay flat. Use the Mega Runner to apply adhesive to the first and last pages of the book.
Adhere the pages to the inside of the cover.
I used the Xyron Magnet Tape and Epiphany Crafts Tools to make the closures for the notebooks. Choose your patterned paper and add to the Epiphany Crafts Round 14 Tool with a bubble cap and punch.
The magnet tape is very thin and can be easily punched. Adhere a strip of the Xyron Magnet tape to a piece of printer paper and punch two circles using the Epiphany Crafts Round 14 Tool.
Next, take an Epiphany Crafts Round 14 Brad Setting and remove the prongs. Add a small piece of DIY foam adhesive to the back of the brad and then add the punched magnet shape on top of the foam adhesive. Turn the brad over and adhere the epoxy shape to the top of the brad setting.
Adhere the brad setting to the flap of the notebook.
Line up the second circle magnet and adhere to the notebook.
I cut and assembled all the pieces of the A2 Card and Envelope Magazine Holder Studio file by Lori Whitlock. It was the perfect size to hold all five of my notebooks and was quick and easy to put together using the Xyron Mega Runner and 5" Creative Station.
Instead of adding the bookplate piece to the spine that is included with the file, I added an Epiphany Crafts Oval Charm and a banner with crochet thread.
